Plumbing for the remote oil filter

Parts Required
 The following
describes the proper way to add a remote oil filter to your VW, or in my case, Sandrail.
In my situation I used stainless steel braided hose, size No. 8, and Army/Navy (AN)
fittings to connect everything. No. 8 hose is the typical oil hose used for engines
of this size, it is equivalent to 1/2" I.D. oil hose.
- Full flow your engine case, refer to the following pictures:

- Puchase a full flow oil pump cover, preferrable cast iron.
Mine is aluminum, as seen in the pictures to come, because I couldn't find a cast
iron one.
- Purchase the remote oil filter assembly, pictures to come
- Tap and plug the outlet side of your oil pump to force the oil
out into the remote filter, see the following pictures:

- Purchase the required fittings, here is a list of Bugpack part
numbers I ordered along with a description of the purpose for each fitting:
- 3122 - No. 8 Braided hose, 1 - 6 foot package ($21.95)
- 3130 - No. 8 Straight hose end, 4 needed, 1 for each end of
the hose ($10.95 each)
- 3133 - Adapter, 3/8" NPT to No. 8 hose, 2 needed, 1 for
the oil pump cover and 1 for the brass elbow at the case ($4.99 each)
- 3136 - 90 degree Adapter, 1/2" NPT to No. 8 hose, 2
needed, 1 for the inlet and 1 for the outlet of the remote oil filter assembly ($17.95
each)
- Brass 90 degree street elbow, 3/8" Male NPT X 3/8"
Female NPT ($4.86)
- Total price is $111.63
- See the following pictures of how it looks as I build the
lines, etc. (Coming soon)
